# Members and roles

> Invite your team to a workspace, and give each person the access they need.

Everyone who works on your workflows can have their own access to the workspace. Each member has a role, and the role decides what they can see and change.

## Roles

A workspace has four roles. Each one can do everything the role below it can:

| Role | What it adds |
| - | - |
| Reader | Sees the projects, workflows, runs, events, webhooks, API keys, alerts, metrics, and scores. |
| Member | Creates and changes projects, API keys, webhooks, and alerts. Reveals secrets and keys. Replays and cancels runs. |
| Admin | Invites and manages members. Rotates secrets. Reads the [audit logs](https://docs.nelkap.com/manage/audit-logs.md), and [exports](https://docs.nelkap.com/manage/exports.md) the workspace's history. |
| Owner | Renames the workspace and chooses its plan. Gives the Admin role, and hands the workspace over. |

A workspace has a single owner: the person who created it, until they hand it over.

Give each person the lowest role that lets them do their work. A Reader is enough to follow runs and read errors, for example for someone on support.

## Invite a member

Go to Members, and invite the person with their email address and a role. Admins and the owner see this page.

* The person needs a Nelkap account first. If they don't have one yet, ask them to [sign in](https://nelkap.com/auth) once, with the address you'll invite.
* An admin can invite readers and members. Only the owner can invite an admin.

Nelkap emails the person, in their own language, to tell them they're invited. The invitation shows as pending until they answer it.

## Accept an invitation

Your invitations are listed under Workspaces, in your account settings. Accept one to join the workspace, or reject it.

Once you accept, the workspace shows in your list, and you have access with the role you were invited with.

If you reject an invitation, the workspace's admins see it as rejected, and can't invite you again until they delete it.

## Change a member's role

Edit a member to give them another role. You can change a pending invitation too, before the person answers it.

* An admin can change the role of readers and members, and give them the Reader or Member role.
* The owner can change the role of anyone else, and give any role.

## Transfer ownership

To make someone else the owner, the owner gives them the Owner role. The person must have accepted their invitation. The former owner becomes an admin, so the workspace keeps a single owner.

## Remove a member

Delete a member to take away their access at once. Deleting a pending invitation cancels it.

An admin can remove readers and members. The owner can remove anyone else.

## Leave a workspace

To leave a workspace yourself, go to Workspaces in your account settings, and leave it. The owner can't leave: hand the workspace over first.
