Nelkap organizes everything in two levels. A workspace is your team: its members, its plan, and its limits. A project is one app in one environment: its endpoint, its keys, and its workflows, runs, and events.

Workspaces

A workspace holds your projects and the people who work on them. Everything the plan decides applies to the whole workspace: how many runs go at once, how many requests per second it takes, and how long history is kept. You create a workspace from your account, with a name, a plan, and the name of its first project. You become its owner. One person can own up to 5 workspaces, and be a member of as many as they’re invited to. Rename a workspace from its settings. Only the owner can.

Projects

A project is what your app connects to. It has:
  • An endpoint: the URL Nelkap calls to run your workflows.
  • A secret, which your app uses to check that each call comes from Nelkap.
  • API keys, which your app uses to start runs, emit events, and save steps.
  • Its workflows, runs, events, webhooks, and alerts.
Two projects never see each other’s workflows, runs, or events. A run started with a project’s API key runs on that project’s endpoint, and an event emitted in one project starts and wakes runs of that project only.

Create a project

Go to Projects and create one, with a name, up to 100 characters, and its endpoint. Creating and changing projects takes the Member role or above. A new workspace’s first project has no endpoint yet: edit it to set one before you create its API keys. Your plan sets how many projects your workspace can have. See Limits.

One project per app and per environment

A project has a single endpoint, so all its workflows run in one app. Create one project:
  • Per app. Two apps with their own workflows each need their own project, since each registers its own list of workflows.
  • Per environment. Staging and production each get a project, so tests never touch production. See Staging and production.

Change a project

Edit a project to rename it or change its endpoint. A new endpoint applies to the next call Nelkap makes: runs in progress go on at the new address. From the project, you can also reveal its secret and rotate it. Rotating takes the Admin role. See API keys and secrets.

See one project at a time

Lists of workflows, runs, events, webhooks, API keys, and alerts show the whole workspace, with a column for the project. Choose a project at the top of the page to see only that project, on every page you open next.
